Thesis Week 1 - Day 1

Week 1 - Day 1

Welcome back from winter break and Happy New Year! Let's kick off 2016 with a THESIS PAPER! This is DAY 1 of the week (or your first MWH class of the week). There are 3-4 class days for each class each week - this blog will be organized by day as each week happens.

Today's Objective:

  • Understand and describe the first Research Check of week 1.
  • Identify 2 reputable sources and 5-7 pieces of specific evidence for Research Check 1.

Today you will begin researching your topic. Here is the Main Assignment Page.  You should start with a general overview and begin noting what topics you need to find. Keep in mind that if you start with an encyclopedia/Wikipedia, those can not be the sources that you use in your final paper, but they can help you gain an overview of your topic and identify keywords/topics/events and people that you want to research in academic sources.

For Day 2 of this week, you will complete and share Research Check 1. There are two ways to complete the organizer find the links below:

Research Check 1: Group  Actions - No Boxes
Research Check 1: Group  Actions - Boxes

Due NEXT CLASS:

  • 5-7 research notes from at least 2 sources regarding your topic

REMINDER:

  • Save your work on your Google Drive account. You should have access to your work even if your computer/iPad is not with you. If you lose your information because you have not saved it in your drive - YOU are accountable. Not your computer.
  • Keep an updated bibliography going as you use sources. We will be using CHICAGO STYLE citations.
